Question by ash: Why am I eating more and more often?
I noticed that since it’s winter time, I’ve been eating more?? I don’t think i’m gaining weight though, all my clothes are fitting very loose and someone could even take my pants down haha. I do the same amount of dancing, yoga, and jogging since September but why am I eating more?! Is it the weather? I am really paranoid about gaining weight cuz I need to lose 10 pounds but I’m always hungry and I feel like food is just passing through my body???!

Best answer:

Answer by Mario
Hi, I used this brand new supplement from http://kilesh.comparediet.info. They have a risk free trial on currently. What it does, is flush out your insides, there will be as much as twenty lbs in there, and no degree of diet and exercise is likely to rid you of it. Give it a try out – I did, and shed 17 lbs LOL!!!

By “How long should I do yoga” i mean how many minutes a day.

Best answer:

Answer by rey
Do it for about 30 minutes a day. Expect to be sore the first few days. You’ll be a lot more flexible and feel a lot better, physically and mentally. I think it’s pretty amazing because if done properly you see results within a couple of weeks. Yoga’s awesome.

I understand that others have asked similar questions but I didn’t find an answer to help. My doctor recommended that I start Yoga for some of my health concerns.

I looked into classes and can’t afford any right now. I was looking at trying a combination of a book and a DVD. Are there any specific books and/or DVD’s someone can recommend for beginner Yoga?

I am also looking into Pilates. Are there any specific books and/or DVD’s someone can recommend for beginner Pilates?

Best answer:

Answer by chick a dee
I would recommend 10 minute soultion videos, the have pilates, kickboxing, muscle toning, exercise ball, and for yoga I would recommend Leslie Sansone’s You can do it Yoga video, I also love her Walk Away the Pounds video, these can be found at walmart, or online at amazon.com or ebay, that’s where I got mine, and I love them all, varitey is the key that I use to keep me up with exercise.

Question by ♥: how do you do this flexible leg pose?
Okay, I can already do both my side splits and almost my middle splits.

There is this yoga/contortionist pose I see girls do in pictures. Like they’re laying on their belly and they can take one of their legs from behind and bring it over their head and touch the floor with their toes. I want to learn how to do that but I don’t know any stretches to get to that point. It looks like an upside down side split.

If you know what i’m talking about what is it called? And what stretches do you need to do in order to do that
just because it takes a lot of dedication, doesn’t mean its impossible. :\ If I can achieve my splits, then I can achieve that. so there, negative person.

Best answer:

Answer by ReVi
that is honestly a lot of dedication to what you do and stretching awhile. I still can’t do that and I took ballet :/

Question by Keowidan: Why do my joints snap and pop when I stretch?
I feel like rice crispies! I stretch everyday (yoga, running, etc) and every time I stretch I pop and snap constantly. It never hurts, it usually feels good. My motions just don’t feel as smooth as they could, it feels like my joints “hang up” at certain places. What gives?

Best answer:

Answer by San
try stretching more gently. if you’re pulling on a muscle too hard, it won’t lengthen, it will tense up more. What happens then is that the surfaces of the bones move instead (hence the noise) which is not beneficial in the long-term

I am a fairly decent looking individual, pretty fit, and recently have been attending yoga for free at my gym to become more flexible. There are mostly women in the class for whatever reason, and it would be great to get to know some of them. Problem is I am not very outgoing and people who don’t know me would probably consider me very introverted. Soooo, how can i start some conversations and get to know someone in that setting?

Best answer:

Answer by Yogini
Are you male or female? Either way, you could ask a woman what company she bought her mat from, because you’re in the process of getting a new one and were dissapointed with your old one. You could ask if they could recommend any yoga books or DVDS. Compliments work well, try saying something like “Wow! your downward dog looks very strong. my wrists are very weak, do you have any tips?”
Good luck/

After doing a shoulder stand for 1-2 minutes, then going into the plough, I had a numb right hand and fingers. About 2 hours after class my fingertips are still numb. It is not extremely painful, just a strange feeling. What might cause this?

Best answer:

Answer by Apocalypse Cow
Look up “Nerve Entrapment” or “Nerve Compression” or “Pinched Nerve”. When you did the plow, you may have caused pressure around a nerve that goes out from the spinal cord in the neck down the arm.

If you still have it, a PT or MD could pinpoint the exact problem with simple test, or it may require something more technical, like an EMG. Once it’s diagnosed, a PT, chiropractor or very good massage therapist could treat it.

Best answer:

Answer by lennie
There are so many breathing techniques in yoga, There is Hara Breathing ,Breath of fire Holding the Breath, and Breath visualization. There are 18 different pages in the book I have dealing with the stomach. So my suggestion to you is Go and buy a book, or take Yoga lessons, They are wonderful and well worth the time.

I have heard a lot about using yoga for weight loss.
Best answer:

Answer by Yogi
Great question. Yes, yoga is great for weight loss! I’ve been practicing yoga for ten years and lost a lot of weight. It is the perfect exercise for me.

Yoga can specifically burn fat, increase your metabolism, increase your lean muscle, increase your flexibility and yoga can help you lose weight! There are certain positions and sequences that target trouble area’s such as belly and thigh fat.

I added links to a great website which I have been using for information and techniques. I would check it out! They also have yoga products that are great.

Answer by KBB
Different gyms pay differently. One gym I worked for started the pay at 17.50 an hour. Another gym paid 17 dollars per hour plus 50 cents for each student. Private studios probably pay more. If your have a 200 hour yoga alliance certification you will be paid more. Most gyms require some sort of training certificate.
